Snow has fallen in Queensland for the first time in two years as a cold snap continues to chill Australia's east coast.
But you wouldn't know it - s'now joke.
The snow melted pretty much as soon as it hit the ground at Eukey, south of Stanthorpe near the NSW border, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.
The "light shower of snow", which came around midnight, is also likely to be the only dusting of white the sunshine state gets from the icy blast gripping eastern Australia.
BOM forecaster Sam Campbell said another cold burst was on the way but that wasn't likely to bring any snow.
"Temperatures will drop again towards the end of the week," he told AAP.
"It doesn't look as cold as the past couple days ... (and) it looks too dry for snow."
But icy temperatures are forecast for Wednesday morning, when the mercury is expected to plunge to just 4 degrees in Brisbane.
The river city's lowest temperature on record is 2.2 degrees.
Brisbane got down to 8.4 degrees early on Monday but the coldest place in the state was the central Queensland town of Thangool, near Biloela, where the mercury was sitting on -1.3 degrees at about 6.30am.
Brisbane is expected to reach 16 degrees on Monday but westerly winds of 30 to 45km/h will make it feel much colder.
The cold, dry air from the south is expected to bring frost again overnight into Tuesday, to inland areas from the south of the state, up to the Atherton Tablelands.
