Socceroo Herd set for Bolton loan

Aston Villa utility and new Socceroo Chris Herd is set to join Bolton Warriors on a month-long loan.

Recent Socceroos debutant Chris Herd is poised to sign with English Championship club Bolton Warriors on a one-month loan from Aston Villa, reports BBC Radio.

The 25-year-old utility, who is a graduate of Villa's academy, made two appearances for Australia, against Belgium and Saudi Arabia, in September this year.

This will be the fourth loan contract for Herd, who played only two matches for Villa in the Premier League last season.

Herd will be the third arrival for the Wanderers in the past week after veteran Paddy Kenny joined the club on a short-term contract and 20-year-old striker Max Clayton signed a three-year deal.
