The Socceroos are confirmed to play World Cup hosts Brazil in a friendly in Brasilia on September 7.

Coach Holger Osieck is relishing the chance for lessons on and off field after confirmation the Socceroos will play World Cup hosts Brazil in a friendly international in Brasilia on September 7.

"With less than twelve months to go to the World Cup this match is a great opportunity for us to get an impression of the environment we will face," said Osieck in a Football Federation Australia statement on Thursday.

"Brazil is one of the top teams in the world and a great challenge for us as we prepare ourselves for the World Cup.

"This match will be a valuable learning experience for us both on and off the field."

The match, to be played at the Estadio Nacional Mane Garrincha Stadium in Brazil's capital, will be the seventh between world No.9 Brazil and world No.40 Australia at senior men's international level.

The teams last met in the group phase of the 2006 FIFA World Cup where Brazil were 2-0 winners.
