Canberra will have one of the NRL's youngest benches when they face Parramatta on Saturday, with veteran Sia Soliola ruled out for six to eight weeks.

The 29-year-old forward will have surgery this week on a broken right arm suffered in Monday's 22-8 win over Canterbury at Belmore Sportsground.

Youngster Luke Bateman, 21, has been named to replace Soliola for this week's clash at Pirtek Stadium.

With prop Jeff Lima sidelined with a broken hand, the Raiders won't have a player older than 25 on their bench that comprises Bateman, Kurt Baptiste, Paul Vaughan and Joe Tapine.

Bateman's inclusion is the only change to the side that beat the Bulldogs.

The NRL, in an attempt to ease the pain of five-day turnarounds, paid for two nine-seater planes to fly the Raiders players back to Canberra on Monday night.
