South Sydney prop George Burgess has been ruled out of the NRL for up to two months due to a groin injury.

The England international had surgery on the problem, which has troubled him for much of 2016, last week.

The Rabbitohs only revealed the news on Monday.

At two months out Burgess would be unavailable until the the final six rounds of the regular season.

In better news for the Rabbitohs winger Aaron Gary is due back on the field in a fortnight as he recovers from a knee injury.

Gray suffered a medial ligament injury in the City/Country clash earlier this month, in which he scored four tries.

Gray is expected to be available for Souths' round 11 clash with Wests Tigers.
