Soward set for a big NRL 2016: Merrin

Key Panthers recruit Trent Merrin is tipping his former premiership winning Dragons teammate Jamie Soward to make his mark at Penrith in 2016.

Key recruit Trent Merrin has backed Jamie Soward to make a success of his final two NRL seasons at Penrith.

The duo combined to deliver St George Illawarra a long-awaited premiership in 2010 and Merrin believes 30-year-old Soward still has plenty to offer as an elite footballer despite continued speculation over his future.

Merrin says Soward has been leading from the front at Panthers pre-season training and he's tipping him to have a big 2016 season.
