More than 100 people have staged a rally in Melbourne's City Square to show solidarity with Australian Muslims.
People from a range of ages and religions gathered for what was billed as an opportunity to speak out against government and media attacks on Muslims.
Some at the rally expressed anger over the death of 18-year-old Numan Haidari who was shot dead in the south-eastern Melbourne suburb of Endeavour Hills on Tuesday after stabbing two police officers.
They also chanted slogans against racism, and condemned Australian involvement in military operations against Islamic State militants in Iraq.
Greg Dyett spoke with Santilla Chingaipe and Mati Safi at the scene.
