Spike in inquiries to super watchdog

The Superannuation Complaints Tribunal faced a flood of new inquiries over the past year.

The number of inquiries made to the superannuation watchdog has more than doubled over the past year.

The Superannuation Complaints Tribunal recorded 23,634 inquiries in 2015/16, up 107 per cent, leading to 2368 complaints relating to $109 million in super.

The main area of complaint was death benefit distribution, followed by the deduction of insurance premiums.
