Splintering vote to aid Labor: Weatherill

South Australian Premier Jay Weatherill says the Liberal vote will be spread too thin for the party to form government at the state election.

South Australian Premier Jay Weatherill says the "splintering" conservative vote will make way for Labor to reclaim government at the March state election.

Mr Weatherill would not rule out doing a deal with independents, including Nick Xenophon's SA Best, and believes the new party will make a more damaging dent in the Liberal vote.

"Even the Liberal Party strategists are giving up six seats so it's very hard to see how the Liberal Party would cobble together a majority," he told reporters on Monday.
