SOCCER - Celtic and Manchester City have played out a thrilling 3-3 draw in their European Champions League group stage clash in Glasgow. Barcelona gained a 2-1 away win over Borussia Monchengladbach, Arsenal beat FC Basel 2-0 at the Emirates and Atletico Madrid defeated Bayern Munich 1-0 at home.

TENNIS - South African tennis player Joshua Chetty has been banned for life after being found guilty of attempted match-fixing. The 21-year-old admitted offering another player financial incentives to under-perform in matches.

SOCCER - English football's League Managers Association says it's concerned by allegations Premier League bosses have received "bungs" for player transfers. The Daily Telegraph has reported eight managers received money for transfers after the publication filmed soccer agents boasting about how many managers they'd paid off.

CRICKET - Bangladesh have slumped to a shock two-wicket defeat as Afghanistan levelled the one-day international series at 1-1 in a thrilling match in Dhaka.

TENNIS - Angelique Kerber suffered her first defeat as world No.1, going down to Petra Kvitova 6-7 (10-8) 7-5 6-4 in a third-round match at China's Wuhan Open.

TENNIS - World No.1 Novak Djokovic has been forced to withdraw from next week's China Open in Beijing because of an elbow injury.

OLYMPICS - British boxer Anthony Fowler and Irish fighters Michael Conlan and Steven Donnelly have escaped bans for betting on fights at the Rio Olympics. The International Olympic Committee has ruled they must take part in integrity education programs.
