SOCCER - Sam Allardyce has been sacked as England manager after one match and 67 days in charge. Allardyce was caught in a newspaper sting apparently offering advice to undercover journalists on how to get around rules on player transfers.

CRICKET - Australia has recorded a comfortable nine-wicket victory over Ireland in a one-off one-day international in South Africa. Usman Khawaja and Steve Smith chalked up unbeaten half centuries as Australia reeled in the target of 199 with 119 balls to spare.

CRICKET - South Africa have suffered a huge blow with skipper AB de Villiers ruled out of home one-day internationals and away Test series against Australia due to an elbow injury.

SOCCER - Spanish giants Read Madrid have been held to a 2-2 draw by German powerhouse Borussia Dortmund in their European Champions League group match. English champions Leicester City beat Porto 1-0 at home, Tottenham secured a 1-0 away win over CSKA Moscow, Juventus thrashed Dinamo Zagreb 4-0 and Sevilla beat Lyon 1-0.

CRICKET - Indian opener Lokesh Rahul has been ruled out of the remaining two Tests against New Zealand due to a hamstring injury. He has been replaced by Gautam Gambhir, who has not played a Test for India in more than two years.
