CRICKET - Australia have slumped to a 142-run defeat to South Africa at the Wanderers to fall 2-0 behind in their five-match ODI series.

MOTORSPORT - Red Bull's Australian Daniel Ricciardo claimed his Malaysian Grand Prix win is payback for his Monaco loss earlier in the year when he finished second. Ricciardo won on Sunday after British driver Lewis Hamilton dropped out with engine failure while leading with 15 laps to go.

SOCCER - Tottenham have beaten Manchester City 2-0 in the English Premier League, while Stoke City managed a 1-1 draw with Manchester United. Arsenal scored at the death to beat Burnley 1-0 and Leicester City drew 0-0 with Southampton.

SOCCER - Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane denied his side were facing a crisis after they drew 1-1 at home to La Liga minnows Eibar and racked up a fourth consecutive draw for the first time in more than 10 years.

SOCCER - Mercurial striker Mario Balotelli scored again for Ligue 1 leaders Nice but was also been sent off against Lorient.

CRICKET - Despite the loss of early second innings wickets, India hold a 339-run lead over New Zealand after day three in the second Test in Kolkata. Rohit Sharma's 82 helped the home side to 8/227 at stumps.

NFL - Jacksonville Jaguars have beaten Indianapolis Colts 30-27 in their NFL game played at a sold-out Wembley Stadium in London. Elsewhere, punches were thrown when a melee erupted between Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots players near the sideline about an hour before their game.

GOLF - Ahead of the third day of golf's Ryder Cup, the PGA of America has pleaded for fans to behave following raucous and rowdy scenes in the opening days. Officials have vowed to remove fans if their behaviour disrupts the final day's play at Hazeltine National.

TENNIS - Australia's Samantha Stosur has lost in the first round of the China Open, going down 6-1 6-2 to China's Shuai Zhang.

TENNIS - Defending champion Tomas Berdych retained his Shenzhen Open tennis title with victory over Richard Gasquet 7-6 (5) 6-7 (2) 6-3 in the final.

MOTORSPORT - Italian motorboat world champion Massimo Rossi has died in an accident during a race on the Moselle river in Germany, police and organisers announced on Sunday.
