PARALYMPICS - Australian para-triathlete Katie Kelly has won gold in the women's PT5 alongside sighted guide Michellie Jones at the Rio Paralympics. Kelly, who is legally blind, and Jones came from behind during the swim leg to move into first place in the bike before powering home in the final run.

GOLF - World No.1 Jason Day's place in the lucrative season-ending Tour Championship is in doubt after he withdrew from the BMW Championship with a back injury through just eight holes of the final round. World No.2 Dustin Johnson remains in control at 20 under through seven holes of the final round.

SOCCER - Manchester City sits two points clear atop the English Premier League standings after Chelsea lost their 100 per cent winning-record with a 2-2 draw against Swansea.

NFL - Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Marcus Peters has raised his fist during the US national anthem, apparently in solidarity with other NFL players drawing attention to racial inequality.

CYCLING - Movistar rider Nairo Quintana has won the Spanish Vuelta, with the Colombian climbing expert having cemented his victory over nearest rival Chris Froome on Saturday's mountain stage. Following custom, Froome did not challenge Quintana on the traditional ride into the Spanish capital on the 21st and final stage on Sunday.

CYCLING - Australia's Caleb Ewan has won the final stage of the Tour of Britain as Englishman Steve Cummings claimed overall victory after safely negotiating the eighth stage.

CANOEING - Australian Jessica Fox finished her 2016 canoe slalom campaign on Sunday with victory in the K1 in the World Cup final in Slovenia. Fox was forced to settle for a silver medal in the final of the C1 the previous day.
