CRICKET - Australia's four-Test series against India will start in Adelaide on December 9 after the opening game at the Gabba was rescheduled following Phillip Hughes' death.

MOTORSPORT - The days of Australian motorsport's greatest rivalry are officially numbered after Ford Australia confirmed they would not support the category from 2016.

SOCCER - Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, who between them have won the past six world-player-of-the-year awards, have been shortlisted with Germany's World Cup-winning goalkeeper Manuel Neuer for the ballon d'or.
