BOXING - Sydney boxer Davey Browne Jr has died of the injuries he sustained in last Friday's IBF super-featherweight regional title fight, the father-of-two never recovering after being knocked out in the 12th round.

RUGBY LEAGUE - Josh Dugan has claimed his first Brad Fittler Medal for the best Blues player of this year's unsuccessful Origin series.

NFL - Jarryd Hayne may finally get his first taste of regular season NFL on Tuesday, with all to be revealed when coach Jim Tomsula unveils his game-day squad to take on Minnesota Vikings by 10:50am AEST.

AFL - The feud between former Kangaroos stars Wayne Carey and Anthony Stevens is on again, with Stevens claiming on Fox Footy's Open Mike on Monday night that his former captain never apologised for having an affair with his wife Kelli in 2002.

RUGBY UNION - Sam Burgess has been picked on the bench for England's World Cup opener against Fiji on Friday, though fellow code-hopper Sonny Bill Williams believes Burgess would be better served moving to flanker from the centres.
