SOCCER - A double from Lionel Messi inspired Argentina to a 3-2 win against Nigeria to sew up top spot in Group F, but the African champions also advanced to the last 16 of the World Cup after Bosnia-Herzegovina ruined Iran's progression hopes with a 3-1 win.

TENNIS - Darkness fell on Australia's brightest start at Wimbledon in 15 years, Bernard Tomic and Marinko Matosevic among the casualties as all five Australians involved in second-round matches on Wednesday failed to progress.

SPORT - Victorian Police have arrested and questioned controversial sports scientist Stephen Dank as part of ongoing investigations, with allegations he was probed over the alleged theft of peptides.

AFL - Geelong could be without in-form midfielder Mathew Stokes for an extended period after he hurt his ankle in last weekend's loss to Gold Coast, while teammate Hamish McIntosh is also in doubt to face Essendon this weekend.
