TENNIS - Reigning champion Rafael Nadal has pulled out of the US Open due to a wrist injury, the second time in three years he has been forced to miss the season's last grand slam because of injury.

AFL - Paul Roos claims he failed as a coach on Sunday, noting he isn't divorced from responsibility when it comes to Melbourne's woeful performance after the Demons were booed off the MCG following their 64-point loss to Greater Wester Sydney.

RUGBY LEAGUE - Sandor Earl's immediate future in rugby league could be determined this week, with the forgotten winger to learn whether a comeback is on the cards when he contests his inclusion on ASADA's register of findings.

CYCLING - Chris Froome will lead Team Sky at the Tour of Spain, which starts on Saturday, after overcoming the hand and wrist injuries which forced him to abandon his defence of the Tour de France last month.
