CRICKET - A tight-lipped English cricket team has just landed in Perth for next month's Ashes series.

CRICKET - Cricket Australia has confirmed Test captain Michael Clarke could return to action next week after back trouble ruled him out of the one-day tour of India.

RUGBY - Openside flanker Michael Hooper has been awarded the John Eales Medal for being the Wallabies' player of the year, as voted by his peers.

SOCCER - New Socceroos coach Ange Postecoglou will be in charge of his final A-League game for Melbourne Victory in Friday night's clash with Brisbane at Etihad Stadium.

LEAGUE - England have named all three Burgess brothers in the squad to face Australia but left out James Graham for the rugby league World Cup opener on Sunday morning Australian time.
