CRICKET - After nine Tests without a win and six weeks caught up in a civil war threatening to split Australian cricket, Michael Clarke turned into Captain Grumpy on the eve of the first Ashes Test starting Thursday in Brisbane.

GOLF - Jason Day will proudly represent Australia with Adam Scott in golf's World Cup this week, but says he's strongly feeling his Filipino heritage.

RUGBY - The Wallabies have sent home in-form playmaker Matt Toomua (hamstring) from their European tour in another major blow to the strife-torn backline.
