Spotless holds minority line on Downer

Takeover target Spotless Group has asked minority shareholders not to be pressured into tendering shares under Downer EDI's takeover offer.

Spotless Group has urged minority shareholders not to feel pressured into selling their shares under Downer EDI's takeover offer, with the acquirer having already secured a controlling interest.

Spotless highlighted an endorsement by Downer chief executive Grant Fenn this week about the target company's core strategy and urged shareholders to have confidence in the future performance of the business.

Downer on Thursday said it had acquired a more than 60 per cent stake in Spotless, following a hostile takeover bid launched in March.
