Spratt pleaded guilty without legal advice

Police Taser victim Kevin Spratt pleaded guilty to drug and weapon possession without seeking legal advice, his lawyer has told a WA court.

Police Taser victim Kevin Spratt pleaded guilty to two charges stemming from an alleged crime spree last month without seeking legal advice, his lawyer has told a Perth court.

Spratt, 44, was arrested days after police officers Aaron Grant Strahan and Troy Gregory Tomlin were convicted in January of assaulting him by repeatedly tasering him at the East Perth Watch House in August 2008.

Spratt appeared in Perth Magistrates Court on Thursday via video link from prison on one charge each of possessing the prohibited drug cannabis and possessing a controlled weapon.

The court heard Spratt had given an endorsed plea of guilty to the two charges without seeking legal advice.

Defence lawyer Rachel Mounsey asked that the pleas not be withdrawn, but that a conviction not be recorded until lawyers could review the matter.

The magistrate agreed to adjourn the two charges so they could be heard with eight other offences that stemmed from the same alleged crime spree in January.

Those charges include assaulting a public officer, obstructing public officers, stealing and aggravated burglary.

Spratt was recently discharged from the Frankland Centre at Graylands Hospital and is currently in custody at Hakea Prison.

Spratt is seeking compensation over the tasering incident.
