Queensland Opposition Leader Lawrence Springborg is looking forward to reading his former boss Campbell Newman's book, but has no idea what will be in it.

The former Queensland premier says the proposed book will set the record straight about issues during his 10-year stint as lord mayor of Brisbane and three years leading the state.

Mr Newman will write the book with the help of Gavin King, a former journalist-turned-politician who lost the seat of Cairns for the Liberal National Party at the recent election.

Mr Springborg had no qualms with the book coming so soon after Mr Newman lost his seat of Ashgrove in the Liberal National Party's stunning election defeat.

"When the book comes out at the end of the year, I'll be very happy to read it," he told AAP.

"I don't know what Campbell's going to write in his book. I mean he's obviously got an extremely interesting story that many people will want to read about."
