Square to open Melbourne headquarters

A Californian technology developer has chosen Melbourne as the site of its Australian headquarters.

Californian point-of-sale technology developer Square will set up its Australian headquarters in Melbourne.

Square, started by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey, uses a free app to help small and medium businesses manage inventories and payments.

"We are thrilled to open our local office in Melbourne, with its growing reputation as Australia's technology hub," Square Australia manager Ben Pfisterer said on Thursday.
