Sri Lanka will be without Rangana Herath for the seventh and final one-day international against New Zealand in Wellington after the left-arm spinner returned home for family reasons.
Herath is returning to help care for an unwell family member but team management told espncricinfo the 36-year-old will return to New Zealand well before the World Cup starting on February 14.
He will miss Thursday's game in Wellington where Sri Lanka will seek some winning form, having lost three successive games to trail 4-1 in the series.
Herath has been among their more effective bowlers, taking 4-120 in his three appearances and conceding just over four runs per over.
Allrounder Angelo Mathews is also in doubt for the final ODI.
He has recovered from a calf injury which ruled him out of games five and six in Dunedin, but is battling illness which sidelined him from training on Monday.
