Sri Lanka have dismissed New Zealand for 431 early on the second day of the first Test in Dunedin.

New Zealand have been bowled out for 431 early on the second day of the first Test against Sri Lanka.

The hosts resumed at 8-409 on Friday at University Oval in Dunedin, the total built around opener Martin Guptill's 156.

Neil Wagner, seven, was the first to go, caught by Udara Jayasundera at fine leg when he tried to pull a short ball from Nuwan Pradeep.

Doug Bracewell hit his Test-best score of 47 but was last man out, lbw to Pradeep (4-112) in the seventh over of the morning.
