Stabbed Victorian officer honoured

A Victorian police officer who was stabbed in a frenzied attack by a schizophrenic man in 2010 is being honoured for his service.

A Victorian police officer who was stabbed in the head, eye and torso while trying to arrest a man is being honoured with the Victoria Police Star.

Leading Senior Constable Christopher Bullen was stabbed multiple times while trying to apprehend the man at a Healesville service station in December 2010.

The man, who suffered from schizophrenia, went on the run for a month before he was arrested in Melbourne.

The Victoria Police Star was introduced in 2006 as an award for officers killed or seriously injured in the line of duty.

Ldg Sen Const Bullen will receive the award at a ceremony on Tuesday.
