Stamps price rise gets go-ahead

The price of a basic stamp will rise from 60 cents to 70 cents from March 31.

Australia Post has been given the go-ahead to raise the price of a basic stamp to 70 cents.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) said on Thursday it had no objection to the jump from 60 cents.

But Australia Post will freeze the price of a basic stamp at 60 cents until 2017 for consumers with a concession card.

The price increase will start from March 31.
