Stanford win Sydney College Football clash

A dose of Americana has come to Sydney with the opening round of the College Football season as Stanford University eased to a 62-7 win over Rice University.

Predictions of a one-sided contest proved painfully correct for Rice University Owls when Stanford Cardinal scored a 62-7 win in the Sydney College Football Cup.

The Palo Alto-based University of Stanford side made an impression from the opening minutes at Allianz Stadium and raced to a 21-0 advantage by the end of the first quarter.

There was no doubt about the winner as the Cardinal advanced their margin to 38-0 by half-time with quarterback Keller Chryst and running back Bryce Love both starring.
