A Starbucks customer was hailed a hero after performing pro-wrestler style moves on a would-be robber in the US city of Fresno this week.
58-year-old Cregg Jerri noticed a man wearing a blue Transformer’s mask threatening the barista. The robber appeared to be wielding a knife and a handgun.
In the video, Jerri is seen grabbing a chair before he slams it down on the robber’s back. In the resulting fight, Jerri is stabbed in the neck. The knife is turned against the robber who is then stabbed several times by Jerri.
The robber fled the scene, but he was found nearby with stab wounds. He was treated and then taken into custody by police.
“It’s not something we recommend in this case, it was a good outcome, no one died as a result of this incident, but he very well could have. But none-the-less, he is a hero. No question,” said Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer.
“There’s probably not very many people in America that would do what Cregg Jerri did last night.”
There have been at least two attempts in the past year of people taking matters in to their own hands during shop robberies.
According to the Police Chief Dyer, Jerri is a frequent customer at the Starbucks at Herndon Avenue and Golden State Boulevard.
