Stenson's opening hole down the toilet

Henrik Stenson has overcome landing his ball near a row of port-a-loos on the opening hole of his Ryder Cup golf round to land his approach shot onto the green.

Henrik Stenson's opening tee shot in his Ryder Cup golf match against Jordan Spieth on Sunday (Monday AEST) wound up behind a stand of port-a-loos on the left side of the first fairway.

Undaunted, the Swede took a free drop two club-lengths to his right, because the stand is considered an immovable obstruction not normally part of the course, then knocked his approach on the green.

The recovery, though, did him little good, since Spieth chipped in from the fringe just behind the flag to take a 1-up lead.
