A Sydney store owner has been charged with murder and starting a fire for financial gain over an explosion in the city's inner west that killed three people.

44-year-old Adeel Khan from Greenacre in Sydney's southwest willremain in hospital under police guard after a bedside hearing today.

He has been in hospital since the blast in a Rozelle store three weeks ago which claimed the lives of Bianka O'Brien, her baby boy and their neighbour, Chris Noble.

Strike Force Baracchi was established by detectives from the Property Crime Squad's Arson Unit to investigate the fire.

It's alleged the fire was deliberately lit, police said.
