Storm back teen Scott on grand final stage

Melbourne say teenage centre Curtis Scott is ready for the big stage of an NRL grand final after being a consistent performer all season.

He's the youngest player in the NRL grand final but Melbourne say Curtis Scott won't be dazzled by the bright lights of ANZ Stadium.

The 19-year-old has already proven himself on the big stage, providing the pass to teammate Josh Addo-Carr that cracked open Brisbane in their preliminary final.

Storm assistant coach Adam O'Brien backed Scott to perform despite his inexperience.

"It wouldn't matter if it was a grand final or his first game he's just a really determined young kid," said O'Brien.

"He's got the runs on the board, he's played in some big games and against some real quality centres and done a really good job.

"The good thing about Curtis is that he doesn't have to produce something special - he's done it all year, he's been really consistent and that's where he will gain his confidence."

O'Brien said fellow Storm centre Will Chambers had taken Scott under his wing this season.

"Will Chambers has been excellent for him, playing in a similar position, he's been a real mentor for him all season," he said.

Scott said that Cooper Cronk, who is playing his last game for the Storm before moving to Sydney, had also been a huge influence.

Last year Scott burst on to the NRL scene only to break his leg and then fail to make it back into first grade until this season.

"One hundred per cent, he's done a heap for me on and off the field," Scott said of Cronk.

"He's been like Dr Phil some days, if I'm going off track, he's pulled me aside and really looked after me."
