Storm peels roof off Qld home like tinfoil

A storm packing 80km/h winds has damaged homes in Brisbane and Logan, with one roof left dangling in a tree.

Dramatic pictures have emerged of storm damage south of Brisbane after a system packing gusts of up to 80km/h struck on Monday evening.

The Logan suburb of Rochedale South was hard hit, with the roof of one home peeled off and left hanging precariously in a tree.

There are also reports of structural damage in the southern Brisbane suburb of Acacia Ridge.

It's believed at least 12 homes were damaged in the storm, which also uprooted trees and left more than 11,000 properties without power.

Almost all of those properties have since had power restored.

Crews will return to affected properties on Tuesday to get a better idea of the damage.
