Storm ready for Sydney Roosters' rebound

Melbourne Storm centre Will Chambers is well-aware of the capabilties of the Sydney Roosters and despite their recent poor record won't take them lightly

Melbourne centre Will Chambers expects the Sydney Roosters to hit back hard in their NRL clash at AAMI Park on Saturday night.

Amongst the premiership favourites at the start of the season, the Roosters have now lost their last two and have a poor record in Melbourne, winning just twice in 10 years.

But Chambers said his side were well aware of the their talent and would be ready after losing twice to them last year.

"They have struggled the last couple of weeks but you can't write them off," Chambers said.

"They have internationals all over the field and they will bounce back to form this week.

"We know what they are capable of doing; they are obviously a big, physical side that can get a roll on quite easily - especially with the speed they have got."

The Storm have climbed to second on the ladder after a hard-fought 14-10 win over the Raiders in Canberra on Sunday.

Chambers said his team were satisfied with the way they were able to grind out victory after letting an earlier match against the Cowboys slip in the dying minutes.

"We just stuck to our game plan, what had worked early in that second half," he said.

"We just had belief in that really - and it all paid dividends.

"We did buy in and it's important we buy into an 80-minute performance against the Roosters this weekend."

With fullback Billy Slater still sidelined and his place taken by 20-year-old Cameron Munster, Chambers at 26 and in his eighth season has emerged as the veteran of the backline.

Marika Koroibete, Kurt Mann, Mahe Fonua and Young Tonumaipea are all aged just 22.

The in-form Chambers said he was happy to help out his young teammates.

"I've been in the Storm system for a while and had a little bit of success here so I just know that if I can give them a little bit of advice and help them improve as a footballer then I've done my job," he said.
