Stosur faces Cornet in Swiss Open quarters

Samantha Stosur will face top seed Alize Cornet in the quarter-finals of the Swiss Open after a 6-4 6-1 win over Patty Schnyder.

The former world No.4 and US Open champion improved her record over the local hope to 3-2 and will be hoping to carry her 5-2 history against Frenchwoman Cornet into their last-eight clash.

The pair last met in China four years ago, with Stosur prevailing in straight sets on the Beijing hard courts.

Cornet, who is ranked 48th in the world, needed a little more than an hour to prevail over Switzerland's Conny Perrin 6-3 6-3.

Johanna Larsson, the No.2 seed, was stunned 6-3 6-4 by Mandy Minella of Luxembourg, who posted her second win against the Swedish player in their fifth career match.

Next up for Minella will be Spain's Sara Sorribes, who topped Germany's Tamara Korpatsch 6-2 6-2 in 90 minutes.

Canada's Eugenie Bouchard advanced to the final eight at the expense of Viktorija Golubic, 7-6 (7-2) 7-6 (9-7).

Bouchard will square off against Russia's Veronika Kudermetova, who eliminated Slovakia's Viktoria Kuzmova 7-6 (7-4) 7-6 (7-5).
