Stosur up a set, as rain hits French Open

Australia's Samantha Stosur fought back to win the first set against Simona Halep in their French Open fourth-round match before rain again halted play.

Play was suspended again by rain on Tuesday at the French Open, with Australian Samantha Stosur fighting back to win the first set against Romanian sixth seed Simona Halep in their fourth-round match.

Resuming at 3-5 down in the opening set, Stosur started strongly and took it 7-6 (7-0) in a one-sided tiebreaker on Court One. She also took an early service break to lead 3-2 in the second set before rain again forced players off court.

World No.1 Novak Djokovic was a set down against Roberto Bautista Agut.

The Serb lost the opening set 6-3 against the 14th-seeded Spaniard on Court Philippe Chatrier when play was halted.

On Court Suzanne Lenglen, second seed Agnieszka Radwanska and Bulgarian Tsvetana Pironkova were level at a set apiece.

If Stosur can overcome Halep, she will face Radwanska or Pironkova in the quarter-finals.

Play started an hour late as rain continued to fall on Paris, one day after the claycourt major suffered its first total washout in 16 years.

Holders Serena Williams and Stan Wawrinka and British second seed Andy Murray, who takes on local favourite Richard Gasquet in the last eight, are also on the day's schedule.
