Strikes to affect major Aus airports

Public sector workers say they will continue to strike until a pay deal with the federal government is finalised.

Public sector workers will continue to take part in rolling work stoppages until their pay dispute is finalised.

Workers have taken part in rallies across Australia over proposed workplace bargaining policies that they say could strip them of many of the allowances they rely on to make up their pay packets.

A four-hour strike created bedlam at Melbourne's international airport on Thursday after customs officers walked off the job, and the Community and Public Sector Union has confirmed a similar strike across major airports will be held next Wednesday.

A revised pay offer is waiting for a final tick of approval from the government and will be presented to the union in July, a Department of Human Services spokeswoman told AAP.
