Strycova, Pliskova advance in Prague Open

Hopes of an all-Czech final are alive and well at the Prague Open.

Third-seeded Barbora Strycova overcame a second set scare on the way to beating eighth-seeded Katerina Siniakova 6-3 5-7 6-3 in an all-Czech quarter-final at the Prague Open.

Siniakova was treated for an apparent right thigh muscle problem at 3-4 in the second set before breaking Strycova twice and converting her fourth set point. It was the first set Strycova lost at the tournament.

Strycova moved on to meet Mona Barthel, the German who topped Camila Giorgi of Italy in another quarter-final 7-6 (7-0) 7-6 (8-6).

Kristyna Pliskova kept hopes of an all-Czech final alive when she came from a set down to defeat 144th-ranked Beatriz Haddad Maia, who had earlier conquered Australia's Sam Stosur, 6-7 (7-5) 6-4 6-2.

Pliskova will face Jelena Ostapenko or Ana Konjuh in the semis, with their match to finish on Friday and presently being level at one set apiece and 1-1 in the third set.
