Canberra coach Ricky Stuart has backed the injury-stricken Titans to recover after his Raiders thrashed the Gold Coast 42-16 in round six of the NRL.

The Titans have lost more than 10 players to injury this season. Stuart says he has sympathy for opposite number Neil Henry and that there is still some talent available for the Gold Coast.

"I think you can see some of the depth out there, they've got a future squad here for Neil (Henry), there are some good kids out there who are learning how to play first grade," Stuart said.

"They're going to have a good squad at some stage.

"They've just been very unfortunate and unlucky in regards to the injuries that have hit the Titans.

"I've been in that position myself and it's a long tough road, it's lonely and I know exactly what they're going through."

Despite the horror injury toll Henry's main concern is his team's defence.

"It has been a bit of a horror run and the boys' efforts have been admirable but tonight I think we saw for the first time that we weren't really in it physically," he said.

"They're a big side, we know that, but we still weren't defending very well individually.

"We can't hide from that, we just weren't up to tackling with the intent that is required to put pressure on our opposition."

His woes were compounded by the last-minute withdrawals of Chris McQueen (back) and Kevin Proctor (hamstring).

The Titans have a tough task in front of them with a short turnaround before the trip up the M1 to face Brisbane on Friday night.
