A suicide bomber has detonated himself at a funeral in eastern Afghanistan, killing at least eight people.

At least eight people were killed when a suicide bomber detonated himself at a funeral in eastern Afghanistan, provincial officials say.

A local official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said at least eight people were killed in Thursday's attack in Mehtarlam, in the eastern Laghman province. Laghman governor spokesman Sarhadi Zwak placed the death toll at 16, with another 39 wounded.
