Sukumaran bid for clemency rejected

'Bali Nine' death row inmate Myuran Sukumaran has had his bid for presidential clemency rejected, while the fate of Andrew Chan remains unknown.

The Australian pair has been on death row since 2006, following convictions over a plot to transport more than eight kilos of heroin from Bali to Sydney.

They had applied for clemency under previous president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, but he failed to act before he left office in October.

The new president Joko Widodo has stuck to his election pledge to be hard on drug offenders.

'Bali Nine' lawyer Julian McMahon has spoken with Abby Dinham about the case.
