NSW's Anthony Summers has rocketed to a five-shot lead at the halfway mark of the Queensland PGA Championship in Toowoomba.
Sharing the overnight lead with two other players, Summers backed up his first-round 61 with an eight-under-par 62 on Friday to move to an impressive 17-under for the tournament.
Defending champion Brad Kennedy and New Zealand rising star Ryan Fox - who along with Summers and David Bransdon equalled the City Golf Club course-record on Thursday - are the two nearest chasers to the red-hot Summers.
"Bogey-free for two days is a lot of fun and very indicative of how I have been playing," said Summers.
"I've been very steady, some would say it's been boring golf but it's been a lot of fun to play."
After posting two rounds of 64, Kennedy is looking forward to putting Summers under pressure.
"If the wind gets up over the weekend, which I hope it does, it certainly makes the course play a lot tougher," said Kennedy.
"Five shots behind with 36 holes to go is certainly achievable."
West Australian Stephen Dartnall (63) had a mixed round that included an eagle and a double bogey to place him fourth on 11-under the card.
Two shots further back are Kiwi Gareth Paddison and WA's Scott Strange.
