A New Zealand fur seal enjoyed a day of sunbaking at the Sydney Opera House on Thursday.
The young seal delighted tourists and people going to work, hopping up several steps to lie on the warm concrete of the VIP boat steps and returning to the water every now and then for a dip.
The large male has been seen at several of Sydney’s major tourist spots over the past five weeks including Darling Harbour, Kirribilli, McMahons Point and now the Opera House.
Rangers said they’re looking after around five seals in the area, with two hanging around the harbour in recent weeks.
"We're delighted that he's chosen this wonderful location to take a nap,” said ORRCA spokeswoman Shona Lorigan.
"It's very common around this time of the year - they find a good location with plenty of fish and off they go."
Rangers were called to check on Sydney’s latest tourist attraction and cordoned off an area to make sure the popular visitor was kept safe.
Ms Lorigan said the young seal is in “stunning condition” and was perfectly fine making the busy spot his home for the day.
Adult male New Zealand fur seals reach up to around 180kg in weight but females only reach up to around 50kg.
