Gold Coast are seeking a four-quarter effort in their bid to enter the AFL's top four for the first time in their history on Sunday.

The Suns host the Western Bulldogs at Metricon Stadium knowing a sixth win from seven starts at their home ground will get them into the top four.

Impressive back-to-back victories in Melbourne over North Melbourne and St Kilda have earned Guy McKenna's men plenty of plaudits down south.

But as exciting as those wins at Etihad Stadium were, the team itself admits they were far from complete performances.

Fast starts in both games laid the platform for victory but the Kangaroos were able to halt the Suns' in the second quarter of their clash while St Kilda won the second half of last weekend's game by three goals after being blitzed in the first two terms.

Midfield star Jaeger O'Meara said the Suns were well aware they have plenty of improvement to make despite their four-game winning streak.

"We've played patches of really good football but at times we've lapsed," O'Meara said.

"That's not going to beat the good sides in the competition. That's where we've got to get to and that's what we're striving for at the moment.

"We'll work on that and hopefully we can do it this weekend."

The Suns have named exciting first-year player Kade Kolodjashnij to make his return from a knee injury after missing the 38-point win over the Saints.

Ex-Bulldog Jarrod Harbrow will line-up against his old club while Luke Russell will make his 50th AFL appearance from the interchange bench.

Fullback Jordan Roughead has been recalled by Bulldogs coach Brendan McCartney in a bid to contain the Suns' tall options Sam Day, Charlie Dixon and Tom Lynch.

Roughead hasn't played since dislocating his shoulder in the Bulldogs' round three win over Richmond.

With Liam Jones suspended and Tom Williams (calf) and Tory Dickson (pectoral) injured, the Dogs have to field a reconfigured attack against the Suns.

"We're going to put six blokes out there in Bulldogs jumpers, all with a role to play. It may look a little different, not totally different, but we'll manage it," McCartney said.
