Surfer missing off NSW beach

A search is underway for a man who's gone missing in waters off a northern NSW beach while surfing with two mates.

A surfer has gone missing in waters off northern NSW.

Byron Bay police, a Westpac helicopter and members of the Volunteer Rescue Association are searching around Tallow Beach for the man, who was caught in a rip while surfing with two mates.

"A 26-year-old man was located in waters a short distance away. He was assisted from the water and did not suffer any injuries," police said.

Soon after another man, 20, was found on rocks with minor injuries.

The search for the third surfer continues in the choppy waters.

A warning about dangerous surf conditions along the entire NSW coast was on Saturday issued by the Roads and Maritime Service.

"Dangerous conditions are expected to ease in northern NSW later on Sunday but remain for the southern part of the state," they said in a statement.
