Susan Boyle lands TV role

Scottish singer Susan Boyle is expanding her acting career after landing a role in a new TV drama.

Boyle made her acting debut as a church warden's wife in 2013 festive movie The Christmas Candle, and now she is heading to the small screen in an upcoming UK series, provisionally titled Diva.

Boyle filmed her role as a lighthouse keeper's wife in the pilot episode last month, according to The Sun on Sunday newspaper.

The singer's agent tells the paper Boyle is "very excited" about the show, about a young girl from Britain's Channel Islands who dreams of becoming a star.
