A device left in a Sunshine Coast business by a robber who sprayed three women with an unknown liquid has been declared safe.

The man entered the Twin Waters pharmacy wearing a white protective suit and mask early on Friday afternoon, threatened and sprayed the employees before grabbing drugs and leaving a suspicious device on the shop's counter.

"The three women were transported to Nambour General Hospital as a precaution, however it is believed they were not physically injured," police said.

The women, one of whom is reportedly 20 weeks pregnant, were decontaminated at the scene.

Several police services, including the bomb squad, were at the scene after an emergent situation was declared.

It was cancelled about 5pm after an inspection of the suspect device by specialist police.

Authorities are continuing their search for the man.
