Suspended Vic MP says truth will come out

A Victorian government minister suspended over bullying allegations says the truth will come out.

Suspended Victorian government minister Adem Somyurek has returned to parliament promising "the truth will come out" about bullying allegations levelled against him.

Premier Daniel Andrews suspended the small business minister and launched an investigation after Mr Somyurek's chief of staff alleged a pattern of intimidation in his office.

"I'm confident at the end of that process the truth will come out. The truth tends to emerge in these things," Mr Somyurek told reporters on Tuesday.

Mr Somyurek did not show up to the last sitting week, leading to questions from the opposition about why he wasn't there.

He arrived just before the upper house sat on Tuesday afternoon.

"These allegations against me are baseless and they will be proven as such," he said.

Asked if internal Labor factional warfare was behind the allegations and investigation, Mr Somyurek replied: "I think people are pretty smart."

Former Office of Police Integrity boss Michael Strong has been appointed to investigate the allegations against Mr Somyurek.

Mr Andrews has said he expects a result within weeks.
