Sydney midfield dynamo Luke Parker is unsure if the painful memories of last season's grand final loss will spark the Swans in their first match back at the MCG, but insists most of the Swans have forgotten that awful day.
The round-six clash with Melbourne on Saturday is the first of just two home and away round games they will play at the MCG this year, the other being the grand final rematch against the Hawks two weeks later.
"I know the boys love playing out there, so I'm not sure if last year's grand final will give us a bit more of a drive," Parker said on Thursday.
"But most of the boys I think have forgotten about it.
"We just want to win at the moment, we need a win."
Coming off back-to-back defeats, Sydney haven't lost three in a row since August 2013, but Parker pointed out they were still one win better off than at the corresponding stage last season.
"We know there's a lot of improvement left, so that's also a good thing," Parker said.
He suggested Swans supporters would see a more disciplined method of attack this week than they displayed against the Bulldogs.
"Probably going forward we were bombing it a lot into the big blokes and they had a spare so they were walking it straight out," Parker said.
"It's not a massive change that we need to make."
He said the Swans had discussed the subject of assisting their red-hot midfielder Dan Hannebery if he found himself marked by Demons' tagger Bernie Vince.
"We don't just leave it up to Hanners, the main thing is we help him out," Parker said.
"We let (Vince) know he is in for a hard day and hopefully Hanners will get free a bit."
The Swans' 2014 best and fairest winner, Parker described his form this season as only OK.
"At times I've played a really good half and died out so for me, it's about playing a full game." Parker said.
Although Melbourne suffered a 68-point thrashing by Fremantle last Sunday, Parker said the Demons were improving every month under former Sydney coach Paul Roos.
