Sydney defensive linchpin Ted Richards has declared the Swans are ready to build some momentum as he prepares for another chapter in his long rivalry with Brisbane talisman Jonathan Brown.
The Swans travel to last-placed Brisbane for Saturday's Gabba AFL clash buoyed by their first back-to-back sequence of wins this season.
Sydney are only out of the eight on percentage after successive wins over Fremantle and Melbourne improved their position following a wretched 1-3 start.
"I think we're ready to build some momentum this week," Richards said on Thursday.
The defender said the team fell way toward the end of quarters in their first few games of the season.
"But I think we're playing out games better now and hopefully that continues."
Either Richards or fellow key defender Heath Grundy is likely to get the job on Brown, who leads the Lions' goalkicking this season, averaging just over two a game.
"We've played on each other a fair bit over the years," Richards said.
"I'm fully aware of what he's capable (of).
"He's by far their number one go-to player inside the forward 50.
"Six games in against pretty tough opposition, he's still kicking goals.
"I did a a bit of homework this morning and I see he's been pretty accurate.
"He's kicked 13.4, so if you give him a chance he's probably going to kick a goal.
"Whether it's Heath Grundy or myself or someone else, we've just got to limit those opportunities for him."
Richards said his personal form had mirrored that of the team.
"A bit inconsistent," he said.
"I think I've played some good football at times, but there's been some contests that I wish I could get back, some quarters."
Canny Richards at least avoids having to bang bodies with Lance Franklin at training during the week.
"The younger guys can play on him," Richards joked.
